The lamp has four parts – (1) base (keezhbagam) (2) stem (kandam), (3) oil container (Thanguli) (4) Prabhai which come in various designs.

The four or five separate parts are made which form the base design. They are then assembled to make up the lamp.

The rough and sharp projections are corrected by cutting and filing and the product is put through a lathe. It is then shaped, with the delicate taps of the chisel.
